I’ve had my mk3 Tiguan for about 9 months now and along with all the other issues, my vehicle is drinking oil like no other VW I’ve owned before.

Roughly every 6 to 7 weeks I’m having to top up with about half litre.

I’ve spoken with the service team at my local dealership, who in the first instance they said maybe they didn’t put enough oil in it at the factory and now they are telling me that I may need to add up to one litre of oil every 1000 miles.

This doesn’t feel right to me. Has anyone else experienced any oil level behaviour like this?

I have the 1.5 eTSI.
I received it with the oil level at maximum and after 1000 miles the level is the same.

The driver's handbook gives the following information on oil consumption
The vehicle can consume engine oil. Engine oil consumption can vary and can change during the service life of the vehicle. Depending on driving style and operating conditions, engine oil consumption can be up to 1 l (1 qt) per 2,000 km (1,200 miles). In new vehicles, it is likely to be higher for the first 5,000 km (3,100 miles). The engine oil level must therefore be checked at regular intervals, preferably before long journeys
Don't how that aligns with your mileage/consumption

I’m just short of 8000 miles and it’s been topped up with about 5 litres, so it roughly aligns to what the handbook says.

That said, it was filled up to just under max 4 weeks ago and it now just above where I’ll get the warning.

5 litres seems alot !, a friend has one as a company car and she put 10k on the car and didn't top it up before it was serviced, mine doesn't seem to have lost any oil either but I'm only on about 3.5k miles.

I guess all engines have slightly different tolerances though but with my low use I cant remember ever topping up oil on a car.
