Hi, new to the Forum but driving a launch edition Tiguan which is suffering from all of the software problems listed on other posts and I am waiting for the promised or some say mythical software upgrade. However to add to my disappointment of upgrading my Mk 2 I feel there is a big question mark over the durability of the windscreen. A couple of weeks ago a stone hit my windscreen which I would have expected may have resulted in a chip at worst but actually resulted in a 200 mm spit directly in my field of view. I went through insurers who sent me to Autoglass but in trying to arrange a replacement was told that no new screens were currently available and it may be weeks before they receive one. Today as I was driving a stone hit the screen again, it did not sound like a major impact but still knocked a 20mm hole in the screen again directly in my eye line just below the existing split. This could just be bad luck but looking at the screen thickness which is now visible through the split I have to say it does not look very substantial. I am wondering if in the continuous quest to reduce weight the screen thickness has been reduced and with it the durability. I have had to pay £115.00 excess for the screen replacement which I am still waiting for, had it been replaced I would now be needing to replace again, needless to say nervous for the future.
Anybody with similar concerns or have I been just really unlucky.
