I wonder what the delay is with the engine. I wish I had of stuck with the diesel now. Volkswagen are still saying May before it even gets built. Hopefully 🤞 this will be brought forward

Same situation here. I ordered the car at the end of May, and it was supposed to be delivered by the end of October. The dealer is now saying that it will hopefully be delivered in the middle of December. It's just ridiculous.

You can thank our overly idealistic out of touch eco warrior UK Politicians for this …. …….trying to force us to buy products we do not presently want, whilst doing immeasurable damage to the economy! They triumphantly thump their chests at what they see as setting an example to the rest of the world…….whilst in actual fact other countries take a more pragmatic and measured view and do what’s best for their respective economies.
I’m just so glad I got my new Tiguan earlier in the year because talk of manufactures being forced to ration the sale of ICE vehicles as a result of UK Government’s imposition of impossible to meet EV quotas was in the news quite early on.
If I recall correctly, for cars, in 2024 - 22% of all sales must be totally electric and manufactures will be fined ÂŁ15000 for every ICE car they sell beyond the quota, including hybrids! This quota will steadily rise to 80% by 2030 and 100% by 2035!
Quite an impossible task for manufacturers if there’s not a significant change in the presently growing public resistance to go fully electric!

There may be some truth in that, however when I discussed these delays with my dealer they said they were only experiencing issues with the 1.5 MHEV engined car and primarily Tiguans. If it was a wider issue about quotas then that would affecting Golfs and Polos as well and it isn't (according to the dealer at any rate)

I'm not from the UK but elsewhere from Europe and we were still quoted 6-9 months (and up to 10 even by a different dealer) for 1.5 eTSI Tiguan.

Although I've heard (but not confirmed) that other VAG cars (VW Golf, Skoda, Seat, Cupra etc) are all suffering from the same problem when it comes to eTSI and delays are huge. They're putting that engine in so many different cars and there are not a lot of viable/affordable alternatives. :(

After being told in early September that my April order was delayed due to shortage of engines, I got another update from the dealer that the car had been built, but VW was not releasing it due to the ongoing issues with the dangerous emergency braking and the assistance failings. Today, I finally got an email from VW stating that my car had left the factory. That implies that the software update has been applied and VW is confident enough to release the car. Fingers crossed they really did get to the bottom of the issues. As they get through the backlog of updating cars, I hope that does not cause a new bottleneck in Emden. I hope to get my car before the end of the year.
