My dealer said my Tiguan has been delayed until the tail end of the year into next year. VW live chat told me that its proposed build date is week 21 of 2025. So an apparent wait time of 10 months from when I ordered. Has anyone else had such delay? I quizzed the dealer and she said it sounds like a generic answer they give everyone. She never confirmed that a build week was showing on her system. Ordered an RLine 1.5 eTSI 150 with the panoramic roof and iQ Matrix LED headlights with the driver assistance pack.

Did they give you any reasons for the delay? I mean 10 months seem ridiculous.

According to the VW live chat it’s due to “Model Year Changes” and according to the dealer it isn’t week 21. So I’m confused 🫤

I’m sure you have seen the reports this week in the press of ICE cars starting to be rationed as manufacturers struggle to meet the 22% EV requirement for this year. Maybe the reason? Adding extras will often extend delivery as manufacturers will typically build batches of vehicles with certain options. Sunroof may fall into that category as those cars will require a different roof panel. Also the dealer may have run out of their allocation of build slots hence yours has got bounced.

Yes I seen that but I didn’t expect a delay of 10 months. According to VW the sunroof and Lights aren’t causing delays but apparently the engine is under a longer lead time.

Which would suggest it is probably due to the ev quota issue. The 1.5 MHEV engine is a staple across the whole VAG group so can’t see that being an issue

I placed order for 1.5 TSI 204PS eHybrid Match in April. I got email from VW confirming they had received the order on April 17th. On June 10th, I received another email stating that production was scheduled. Originally, delivery was expected in August, that got pushed back to September and yesterday I was told by dealer that no ETA was available: " the factory is experiencing delays with eTSI engines and therefore the delivery date has been pushed back. At the moment, I do not have an approximate ETA, but as soon as I have an update I will let you know "
So I'm looking at at least 6 months from order to delivery.
If the engine is the problem, I would expect other VW models with the same engine to also face delays, but I cannot find any chat on the topic. Likewise, issues with quota would also affect other models.

Just been talking to my dealer (Golf in for service) and they have confirmed that there are indeed supply issues with the 1.5MHEV engine and potentially they will not be resolved until early next year. Presumably this will impact all cars that use that engine across the group, including Golf, Passat and vehicles from Skoda, Cupra and Seat. Seems there are also delivery delays getting cars shipped to the UK from Emden.

I’m not sure the additions such as sunroof would cause such a long delay. For reference I ordered on 29th March and received mine on 29th July - so 4 months from order to collection, although I was originally told August or September, mine included the following additions too: Comfort Pack, Driver Assistance Pack, Winter Pack incl heated outer seats, Infotainment Pack plus, Leather Pack and the sunroof. Even with all these additions it was built ahead of original schedule, these delays would suggest something else influencing it.
