Activate camera and parking sensors

Hi there.

Is it possible to activate camera and parking sensors with a quick action? Every time I press P button the system goes into Park Assist mode - finding parking spaces, which doesn’t work very well. The issue here, as you can see in the picture, is that sometimes this mode deactivates Parking Distance Control and it stays deactivated even if I switch to camera mode. This disables alerts for parking and there is no quick way to activate it.

A solution is to change gear to R then parking/camera/sound mode is ok. It’s a bit confusing when I just want to park forward or get some quick info about current position.

Thanks!

Great question as I was wondering the same, when approaching a parking space on the mk2 I would activate park distance control manually so that the sensors were on the screen as I parked. However now when I press Parking it goes straight to Park Assist instead of the sensors and sometimes it won’t even let me get back to the sensors! Any help to default to park distance control would be appreciated!

This is also my main issue with the mk3 currently. I cannot beleive that they shipped the car with this behaviour out-of-the-box. It seems like such an obvious omission that it has to be resolved via software update relatively soon. Will ask about this at my VW dealer first chance.

They should have added explicit shortcut actions to enter the Camera view directly or at least a setting where one can configure which screen is active initially (Park Assist or Camera/360 View). PDC deactivated once manually switching from Park Assist is also a WTF, sometimes it gliches out and then the camera view is blank. Something is messed up in the software regarding this…

I have a week old R Line, very sensitive Reversing moving Break, I have to disable the break when reversing on my drive or the car slams to a stop. however this is not just R Line and Tigs. I observed by daughter today in her ID4. turning on our drive, and break slamming on. Advised her to switch off move break when in tight spots, she did not know this and said magic. I have been driving like this for six months.

So a drive that I have reversed on for the past 30 years a dam computer says I can't do it, Never mind a quick select of with off move breaking and problem solved, a pain but its not just Tigs

It's odd as mine was sensitive when reversing and would slam the brakes on but after the first few weeks it's nowhere near as sensitive as it was, in fact it's not done it at all, not sure if I have adapted to the car or it to me?!.

I just witness my daughter in her id4. She drives for a living 200 miles etc a day . Slamming the brakes on in the same place my new tig does . So it’s the system. Not the user.

if you just cover the brake ie lightest of pressure so the car knows you’re on it but not actually braking the emergency stop won’t occur.

I find this works to a degree. Mine still brakes when doing this if it feels I’m too close, like 30cm.

Poring down with rain, I had a go at fethering the break for my tight drive. No good I am afraid. Just reverted to gem disable man over breaking

Well I don’t know then, I have tight turns, high laurel hedges and walls to manoeuvre between and don’t suffer any of this auto braking.
