For the mirror, just spray some WD40 Specialist Dry PTFE.
Works with plastic and yo should have no more problems as the spray creates an resistant layer to water, dust, etc.

Regarding the assistants problems:
A friend had the failure last week.
He took the car to a VW dealer this tuesday and left it there.
Today he was called to pick up his car because for the moment they can't do anything to the car as VW told them that there will be a software update on week 38 that should solve the problems.
It seems that the problems are generated by the front camera that is overheating because the fan that should cool the camera does not always kick in when it should, so the camera overheats and causes the failure of other assistants since they are dependant of the front camera.
It seems that the fan sometimes kicks in when the car is stopped, causing the battery to drain and that is why some have problems starting the car.
It is not a hardware problem, as I wrote before, that is why the problem came back to a colleague from here who had his camera replaced.
Hopefully this time the software is ok and there will be no more problems.

Also, my car was supposed to be delivered this week.
My dealer called me today to tell me that the cars produced in august (my car was produced at the beginning of august) were taken to a quality check facility where they had the software updates applied and because of that the delivery should take another 1 week.
So, all those that are waiting for their cars, should have the latest software updates and hopefully all will be alright.

I know what you're saying. I just think I shouldn't have to spray WD40 on a brand new £40k car... (even though, that's what VW will probably do  )

Whilst some of it is plausible people who have been unable to start their car have closed the doors and locked the car and then been able to start their cars shortly after so I'm doubting it's caused a flat battery, also I have had errors after just driving away so not sure the camera would have overheated that quickly?.

That's all the info I've got.
I'm not very optimistic myself, but then again, who knows, they might surprise us (this time in a positive manner :) )

Hello, Mr. Vlad!

Forgive me for being late.

I have consulted with several advisors regarding your problem. It is indeed necessary to carry out an update, but at the moment the factory is working on this aspect, so this update is not currently available.

For more details, I am at your disposal.
